Solace

Jae was a one of a kind, a beacon of support. His warmth radiated through every smile, every gesture of kindness he extended to not only friends, but all who crossed his path. Growing up amidst the serene landscapes of Pinedale, WY, Jae found ease in the simple joys of life – Cowboy boots and shorts, fishing by tranquil waters, embracing the wilderness, and sharing cherished moments with loved ones.

His unexpected departure in 2016 left a void in the hearts of all who knew him, a profound sense of loss echoed throughout his tight-knit community. Yet, amidst the grief, a pledge emerged at his funeral, a commitment to transform tragedy into something meaningful.

Honoring Jae's memory, we embraced his love for cowboy boots and the “book check” was born. Using them as a platform for conversation and connection dedicated to raising awareness for mental health and suicide prevention. But more than that, it serves as a source of healing for those left behind, offering solace to grieving hearts.

Though Jae's earthly journey ended too soon, his legacy lives on through the Jae Foundation. It is not merely an end, but a beginning – a harbinger of comfort, guiding others towards healing and hope. And as time unfolds, may the cowboy boot, serve as a reminder to check-in on those around us, be bold enough to have conversations around mental health, and even give us the strength to put our boots on and ask for help if needed. "What we do for ourselves dies with us. What we do for others and the world remains and is immortal." - Albert Pine
